DAHLONEGA, Ga. – For the third straight match, the Flagler College defense recorded a shutout as
Lex Craggs turned away the two shots he faced in a 3-0 win at the University of North Georgia in a Peach Belt Conference men's soccer match at the UNG Soccer Complex.
Flagler improved to 7-4-1 overall and 6-2-0 in the Peach Belt. The Saints also lock up home field advantage for the upcoming Peach Belt Conference Tournament quarterfinal round on Nov. 3. The regular season concludes next Saturday (Oct. 31) and the pairing will be announced that evening. North Georgia falls to 4-9-2 overall and 2-4-1 in conference play.
Juan Membreno got the Saints on the board just before halftime. In the 43
rd minute, Membreno scored off of a pass from
Caleb Austin.
Flagler wasted little time scoring coming out of the intermission. In the 47
th minute,
Jackie Kay headed in
Jonny Cosgrove's cross to give the Saints a 2-0 lead.
Simeon Wickli concluded the scoring when he knocked in Membreno's pass in the 72
nd minute.
Craggs, and the defense, extends their scoreless streak to 302 minutes and 43 seconds. Victor Ohlin recorded five saves for the Nighthawks.
Flagler out-shot North Georgia 11-10 and the Nighthawks had a 12-3 advantage in corner kicks.
Flagler visits the University of North Carolina Pembroke on Monday (Oct. 26) to wrap up its conference slate. Kick-off is set for 3:30 p.m.
