Barry tops Flagler, 3-2

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – Patrick Drmola recorded a hat trick to help lead Barry University to a 3-2 win over Flagler College in a non-conference men's soccer match Tuesday afternoon at Buccaneer Field.

The win snapped a two-game losing streak for Barry as it improved to 6-2-2 overall. Flagler dropped to 4-4-1 overall.

Drmola's first goal came in the 20th minute when he scored from 20 yards out off of a pass from Sergio Yepes.

Pedro Silva scored the equalizer in the 26th minute after receiving a long pass to the left wing.

That was the score at the half.

In the 49th minute, Drmola scored his second goal on a blast from 15 yards out. Almost nine minutes later, his third goal gave the Buccaneers a 3-1 lead.

Play was stopped in the 71st minute due to a lightning delay. The delay lasted for more than one hour.

The Saints came out firing and got a goal from Jackie Kay who headed in Jonny Cosgrove's free kick just in front of the goal box in the 82nd minute. Flagler had a handful of chances late, but just couldn't put the ball in the back of the net to tie the match.

Bo Haug made six saves for Barry while Lex Craggs recorded six for Flagler.

Barry out-shot Flagler 22-19, but the Saints had a 7-5 edge in corner kicks.

Flagler welcomes arch-rival and No. 21-ranked Lander University to Saints Field on Saturday (Oct. 17) at 7:30 p.m. The Saints will honor their seniors in a ceremony prior to the match.
