Box Score 2 MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Flagler College and No. 28 (Collegiate Baseball Division II Top 40) Georgia College split a Peach Belt Conference baseball doubleheader Saturday afternoon at John Kurtz Field. Georgia College rallied to win the first game 17-14 and Flagler took the second game, 12-2.
Flagler is now 8-4 overall and 2-3 in the Peach Belt. Georgia College is 6-3 overall and 1-1 in conference play.
In the opener, Flagler plated three runs in the top of the ninth inning thanks to a three-run home run by
Andrew Brodbeck. The Saints held a 14-10 lead going into the bottom of the ninth.
Kuehl McEachern (0-2) came on to face the heart of the Georgia College line-up. He walked the leadoff hitter and then Clay Ardeseer singled. Another walk loaded the bases with no one out. Jake Sandin laced a single into right field that scored two runs.
Drew Heifner replaced McEachern, staked to a two-run lead (14-12). Heifner walked the next two batters and the Bobcats trailed by one run.
Steven Fleming relieved Heifner and the first pitch he threw to Mike McGraw was belted over the center field wall for a grand slam.
The Saints held an 8-3 lead through five innings, but the Bobcats were able to tie the score with a five-run sixth. Each team scored two runs in the seventh and Flagler added one more in the eighth, coming on a
Jake Taylor solo home run.
Sandin led the Bobcats 14-hit attack with three singles, four runs batted in and two runs scored. Ardeeser went 3-for-6 with a double, two RBI and two runs scored. Rob Hogenkamp singled, doubled, scored four runs and drove in another.
Jordan Brooks (2-0) tossed two innings in relief to earn the win. He allowed five hits and four runs. Brooks did strike outs three batters.
Brodbeck tied a school record with six hits (four singles, a triple and a home run) and he drove in seven runs. Brodbeck tied John Montecalvo's record (1987) for hits in a game.
Matt Morningstar singled three times as the Saints pounded out 18 hits as a team.
Nathaniel Abel started and received the no decision. He tossed three-plus innings and allowed four hits, three unearned runs, walked four and struck out four.
The Saints committed five errors.

The second game saw a great pitching performance from Flagler's
Jake Brandenberger (2-0). He went the distance and tossed a six-hitter with a career-high 13 strike outs in a 12-2 win.
The Saints hit parade continued as they bashed out 15 more hits against four Bobcat pitchers. Six different Saints had two hits.
Nick Kranick went 2-for-6 with a home run and four RBI. Brodbeck singled, doubled, scored two runs and knocked in two more.
Flagler scored five runs in the third and sixth innings. The Saints sent 11 men to the plate in the third. Kranick's three-run home run in the sixth was the big hit of the frame.
Josh Taylor (2-1) tossed 5.1 innings and surrendered eight hits, six earned runs, walked two and fanned five in taking the loss on the hill.
Taylor Hinshaw singled twice and drove in a run.
The two teams meet on Sunday (Feb. 23) at 1 p.m. to complete the three-game series.
