Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 JACKSONVILLE – Flagler College swept a Peach Belt Conference doubleheader from Georgia Southwestern State University on Sunday at Bishop Kenny High School. Flagler came from behind in both games, winning 10-8 in the first and 8-7 in the second.

Flagler improved to 17-22 overall and 9-17 in the Peach Belt. Georgia Southwestern fell to 14-28 overall and 5-19 in conference play.

In the opener, Flagler trailed 5-3 going into the bottom of the fifth inning when it plated three runs to take a 6-5 lead. Georgia Southwestern tied at 6-all in the top of the sixth.

In the bottom of the sixth, Jay Laurienzo's base hit scored Jake Hanson from second base to put Flagler on top for good, 7-6. The Saints weren't done there as Brett Moreland added an RBI-single and Laurienzo scored on a wild pitch.

The Saints added another run in the eighth.

The Hurricanes made it interesting when Randall Sheffield hit a two-run home run in the top of the ninth to close to within 10-8.

Justin Ratte struck out the last batter to complete a three-inning save, his first of the season. Danny Brown (3-5) tossed six innings, allowed five hits and two earned runs. He fanned seven batters.

Moreland went 3-for-5 with a double and the home run and he collected two runs batted in. Joe Post went 2-for-3 with a home run and three runs batted in. Laurienzo singled twice and scored twice while Hanson singled, doubled, scored two runs and drove in another. Jake Jacob singled twice and knocked in a run.

Frank Ambrosino (1-7) tossed 5 2/3 innings, surrendered 10 hits, five earned runs, walked two and struck out five.

John Duran went 4-for-5 with a double and he scored two runs for Georgia Southwestern. Michel Coffey singled, homered and drove in three runs.

In the second game, Flagler rallied from a 6-3 deficit and again used a three-run inning, this time the seventh, to tie the score and then add two runs in the eighth en route to the 8-7 win.

Tyler Vanover led off the seventh inning with a home run and Post scored on a squeeze bunt by Shaun Starnes. Andrew Brodbeck's single brought in the tying run, pinch runner Frankie Sagarese.

The score remained tied at 6-all going into the bottom of the eighth. Post hit an RBI-single, which proved to be the game-winning hit and Vanover later scored on a wild pitch for some much needed insurance.

The Hurricane got an unearned run in the ninth and left the tying run at second base.

Jake Brandenberger (7-2) tossed the last two innings and allowed one hit and the unearned run to pick up the win in relief. He fanned three batters.

Post finished 4-for-5 with two runs scored and one run batted in. Vanover went 3-for-5 with a home run and two runs scored. Brodbeck singled three times, scored a run and drove in another.

Bray Bishop (3-2) tossed 1 1/3 innings in relief and was tagged with the loss. He allowed two hits and two runs to score.

Flagler takes on former NAIA-rival Edward Waters College on Tuesday (April 23) at 7 p.m.
