Box Score MONTEVALLO, Ala. – With two outs in the bottom of the 10th inning and runners at first and second base, Jackson Slaid blooped a single into right-center to end the game as the University of Montevallo won 7-6 over Flagler College to complete a Peach Belt Conference series sweep Sunday afternoon at Johnson Field.

Montevallo won its sixth game in a row and improved to 17-7 overall and 9-3 in the Peach Belt. Flagler lost its sixth game in a row and fell to 9-13 overall and 2-10 in league play.

In the bottom of the 10th, Austin Dubberly drew a two-out walk and then Vinny Rodriguez was hit by a pitch from Flagler reliever Beau Beaudreau (0-1). Michael Hanke, Flagler's fifth pitcher of the afternoon, came on to face Slaid who lofted a 2-1 pitch into shallow right-center which scored Dubberly from second base.

The Falcons blew a 4-0 lead. Montevallo had scored four runs in the first inning, but Flagler chipped away and got one run back in the fourth inning and tied it with a three-run fifth. Nick Kranick hit an RBI-single and Jay Laurienzo followed with a two-run blast to tie the game at 4-all.

Montevallo plated single runs in the bottom of the fifth and seventh innings to take a 6-4 lead. However, Brett Moreland hit an RBI-single in the eighth to get Flagler to within a run, 6-5. Andrew Brodbeck, who had walked earlier, moved to third base. Kranick flied out to center and Brodbeck scored to tie the game.

The Falcons had two runners on base in the bottom of the ninth with two outs, but couldn't score the game-winning run before going to extra innings.

Cody Hughes (2-0), Montevallo's fifth pitchers of the day, tossed 2 2/3 scoreless innings, allowed two hits and fanned two batters. Edward Brandsema started and lasted 4 1/3 innings, surrendered seven hits and four runs.  

The first three hitters in the lineup for Montevallo combined to go 5-for-13 with five runs scored. Will Fulmer singled and scored two runs while Dubberly singled twice and scored two runs. Rodriguez singled, doubled and scored a run.

Beaudreau tossed two innings, gave up one hit, one run, walked two and fanned four. He was credited with the loss as his base runner scored off of a hit by the relief pitcher. Jake Brandenberger started and lasted four innings before giving up six hits and four runs.

Kranick went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI and he scored a run. Brodbeck and Moreland each singled twice and both scored a run. Moreland drove in a run. Chace Mitchell singled and hit a solo home run.

Flagler visits Valdosta State University on Wednesday (Mar. 13) at Valdosta, Ga., at 5 p.m.
