Box Score ST. AUGUSTINE – No. 7 (Collegiate Baseball Newspaper/Division II poll) Lander University scored a run in every inning except two and triumphed over Flagler College 13-1 in a Peach Belt Conference baseball game Sunday afternoon at Drysdale Field.
Lander improved to 8-2 on the season and 3-0 in the Peach Belt. Flagler fell to 7-5 and 0-3 in conference play. Lander out-scored Flagler 37-12 in the three-game series and out-hit Flagler 46-27.
The Bearcats wasted little time getting on the board first when Patrick Grady's sacrifice fly to left field plated Erik Lunde with the game's first run.
Lander added two more in the second as Ian Harvey and Graham Ramos hit back-to-back run-scoring singles.
That was all Logan Pemberton (3-0) would need to earn the win. He tossed seven innings and allowed five hits and one run. Pemberton fanned seven batters. His scoreless streak ended at 17 2/3 innings after Flagler scored a run in the fourth inning on a sacrifice fly by
Jake Jacob.
Ramos singled three times, knocked in four runs and scored another to pace the Lander offense. Weston Lawing hit two doubles, a home run, scored three runs and collected four RBI.
Chris Patrick (2-1) tossed four-plus innings and allowed seven hits, six runs and he fanned four.
Brett Moreland singled twice for the Saints.
Flagler will head to Lakeland on Wednesday (Feb. 20) to face Florida Southern College at 6 p.m.
