Box Score

SAVANNAH, Ga. – Kate Stromberg recorded a match-high 17 kills and added 13 digs to lead Florida Southern College to a 3-1 (25-20, 29-31, 25-16, 25-22) upset win over No. 22 (AVCA Division II Top 25) Flagler College in a non-conference women's volleyball match at the South/Southeast Challenge at Alumni Arena Friday night.

Florida Southern improved to 6-4 on the season while Flagler fell to 5-3.

Anne Pietkiewicz added 15 kills and 14 kills for the Moccasins. Kayshia Brady chipped in with 10 kills and hit an efficient .391 on 23 swings. Jasmine Childress paced the defense with 20 digs while Ali Skayhan recorded a double-double with 46 assists and 12 digs.

Dianna Craine recorded her fifth double-double of the season with 14 kills and 24 digs. Emilee Taylor added 14 kills and Sophie Meyer racked up 11 kills and hit .409 on 22 swings. Casey Gnann led the defense with 25 digs and Amelia Morgan tallied 50 assists.

In the first set, the Saints rallied from a 15-11 deficit to pull to within one, 15-14, after a Rachel Stacy kill. But Skayhan, the Florida Southern setter, dumped a shot over the net to stop the Saints comeback attempt. The Mocs went on to take the first set 25-20.

The second set featured 15 ties and 10 lead changes. A hitting error by Craine gave set point to the Mocs, 24-23, and caused Flagler to call a timeout. Out of the break, Craine redeemed herself with a cross-court kill. The score would flip-flop until a kill by Craine gave the Saints a 30-29 lead and Caitlyn Kovach served an ace to end the set with Flagler winning 31-29.

Florida Southern broke open a 7-all tie in the third set with a 4-0 run and did not look back in a 25-16 win.

The Saints dug a 19-11 hole in the fourth set but went on a 10-3 run to pull to within one point, 22-21. Kills by Morgan Kosterlitz and Pietkiewicz set-up match point for the Mocs, but the Saints staved off the first match point. Stromberg closed out the match with a kill.

Flagler takes on Rollins College at 11 a.m. and then face Eckerd College at 2 p.m. to conclude the tournament.
