FLORENCE, S.C. – Dianna Craine and Emilee Taylor proved to be a powerful 1-2 punch as they helped Flagler College defeat Francis Marion University 3-1 (25-11, 25-21, 22-25, 25-18) in a Peach Belt Conference volleyball match Friday night at the Smith University Center.

Flagler won its 12th regular season Peach Belt match in a row and raised its overall record to 10-6 and moved to 3-0 in the PBC. Francis Marion fell to 9-6 and 1-3 in league play.

Craine recorded her team-leading eighth double-double of the season after recording a match-high 15 kills and collecting 16 digs. She hit .344 for the match with just four errors on 32 swings. Taylor recorded her sixth double-double of the season with 12 kills and 11 digs to go along with four total blocks. Sophie Meyer tallied nine kills while Abby Meyers added eight kills. Rachel Stacy provided six kills, four aces and five total blocks for the Saints. Amelia Morgan tallied a match-high 45 assists and Casey Gnann collected 19 digs.

Alexzandra Reed led the Patriots with 11 kills and hit an efficient .385 with only one error on 26 swings. Megan Mooney added nine kills and three total blocks while Liz Drewry contributed eight kills and nine digs. Sloane Shank led the Patriots with 19 assists and Meghan Peji paced the defense with 19 digs.

Flagler broke open a 9-6 lead in the first set with a 9-3 run led by Taylor's three kills. The Saints hit a sizzling .500 in the 25-11 win. They racked up 13 kills with two errors on 22 swings.

The second set proved to be much closer with five ties and three lead changes. The Saints had a hard time shaking the feisty Patriots, but a kill by Craine tied the set at 13-all and an attack error by Mooney gave Flagler the lead for good. The Saints went on to take the second set 25-21. Flagler committed six of its 10 service errors in the second set.

FMU took the third set 25-22 after eight ties and three lead changes. The Patriots broke a 19-all tie after a Mooney kill and they never relinquished the lead.

Flagler sprinted out to an 8-3 lead in the fourth set en route to a 25-18 win to take the match. Francis Marion made it interesting by closing to within three points (18-15), but couldn't get any closer.

Flagler visits UNC Pembroke tomorrow (Oct. 6) at 2 p.m. in another Peach Belt Conference tilt.
