Box Score

ST. AUGUSTINE – Rachel Stacy recorded 12 kills on 16 errorless swings for a career-high .750 hitting percentage to help lead Flagler College to a 3-0 (25-23, 25-22, 25-15) win over Francis Marion University in a Peach Belt Conference women's volleyball match Friday night at Flagler Gymnasium.

Flagler improved to 16-7 on the season and remained undefeated in the Peach Belt with an 8-0 mark. Francis Marion had its six-match winning streak snapped and fell to 15-8 overall and 3-5 in conference play.

Dianna Craine led Flagler with a match-high 13 kills and collected six digs. Abby Meyers contributed nine kills and had just one error on 15 swing for a .533 hitting percentage. Emilee Taylor tacked on seven kills and eight digs. Casey Gnann paced the defense with 17 digs while Amelia Morgan tallied 37 assists.

The Saints were an efficient force tonight with 50 kills and 15 errors on 106 swings which equates to a .330 hitting percentage.

Liz Drewry recorded a team-high 11 kills for the Patriots and Jessica Imbimbo added 10 kills. Rebekah Davis led Francis Marion with seven digs while Kailey Smith tallied 15 assists.

The first set saw 12 ties and six lead changes. After an attack error by Alexzandra Reed, it looked like Flagler would take the first set with a 23-20 lead. But two errors by the Saints and a kill by Imbimbo squared the set at 23-all. Meyers buried the ball for a kill on the next serve for Flagler and then a bad set on set point gave the first set to the Saints.

Francis Marion jumped out to a quick 5-1 lead to open the second set, but Flagler whittled away at the deficit and tied it at 8-all on a ball handling error by Sloane Shank. A kill by Craine broke a 12-all tie and the Saints never looked back. Flagler hit .324 in the set with 17 kills and six errors on 34 swings.

The Saints led the third set from start to finish. A quick 7-1 run to open the final stanza was all that Flagler would need to take the set.

Flagler will play its final home regular season match tomorrow (Oct. 27) against UNC Pembroke at 2 p.m. at Flagler Gymnasium. The Saints will honor their four seniors after the conclusion of the match.
