ST. AUGUSTINE – Flagler College used a balanced scoring attack to defeat USC Aiken 3-1 (30-32, 25-9, 25-23, 25-22) in a Peach Belt Conference volleyball match Friday night at Flagler Gymnasium.

Flagler won its seventh consecutive match and improved to 13-6 overall and 6-0 in the Peach Belt. USC Aiken fell to 15-7 overall and 4-2 in league play.

Dianna Craine recorded her 10th double-double of the season with a match-high 16 kills and added 15 digs. Emilee Taylor added 14 kills and eight digs while Sophie Meyer tacked on a season-high 13 kills and hit an efficient .407 with just two errors on 27 swings. Casey Gnann added 15 digs while Amelia Morgan tallied a match-high 49 assists.

Ashley Diedrich led the Pacers with 13 kills and 11 digs. Hannah Tierney added 11 kills while Shannon Byers recorded a double-double with 10 kills and 14 digs. Samantha Lukralle collected a match-high 26 digs while Sheila Walsh tallied 41 assists.

The first set saw 12 ties and five lead changes. Tierney's kill gave the Pacers a 31-30 lead and an attack error by the Saints gave USCA the win, 32-30. USC Aiken hit .429 in the set with 23 kills with only two errors on 49 swings.

The second set was all Flagler. The Saints hit .467 with 15 kills and had one error on 30 swings. The Saints sprinted out to an 8-2 lead and never looked back for a 25-9 win.

The Saints scored the first six points in the third set, but had to hold off the Pacers to claim a 25-23 win.

Flagler was efficient in the fourth set as it hit .303 with 12 kills and committed two errors on 33 swings. A kill by Taylor tied the set 7-all and then Byers followed that up with a hitting error to give Flagler a lead it would not relinquish. 

Flagler hosts Lander University tomorrow (Oct. 13) at noon at Flagler Gymnasium.
