Flagler women finish second at PBC Championship

POOLER, Ga. − The No. 21 (Golf World/NGCA Coaches Poll) Flagler College women's golf team fell short in its defense of the Peach Belt Conference Women's Golf Championship with a 36-hole total of 633 strokes and finished in second place, 23 shots back of No. 12 University of North Carolina Pembroke, Tuesday at the Savannah Quarters Country Club (par 72, 5827 yards).

No. 12 UNC Pembroke shot a tournament-best 301 this afternoon to wrap up its first conference women's golf tournament title. Katja Dammann of UNCP led throughout and took home medalist honors with a 1-over par 145. She recorded the lowest score of the tournament with her final round 72. Dammann won by six strokes over Kimesha Anthony who carded a 7-over 151. 

Marissa Marinan (Niceville, Fla, Niceville HS) led Flagler with an 11-over 155 and finished in a tie for fourth place, her first top-five finish of her career. She also earned all-tournament honors. Lauren Benetti (Celebration, Fla., Daytona State College) finished in 10th place with a 15-over 159. Elin Karlsson (Vanersborg, Sweden, Vaxjo Fria Gymnasium) carded a 17-over 161 to tie for 12th place. Leslie Choucard (Chessy, France, Mercer University) tied for 14th place with an 18-over 162.. Victoria Seenath (Toronto, Ontario, Seminole State College of Florida) rounded out Flagler's contingent with a 20-over 164 and tied for 17th place.

Flagler will wait to see if it qualifies for regional competition May 1-3.
