PINEHURST, N.C. − The Flagler College women's golf team finished in a tie for seventh place after a final round 329 and a 36-hole 650 at the Pinehurst Challenge which concluded Tuesday afternoon at the National Golf Club (5,835 yards; par 72).
UNC Pembroke and Saint Leo University finished in a tie for the top spot among the 17-team field. Both shot 624 overall, but the champion was declared in a scorecard playoff. The tiebreaker went down to the two No. 5 players between the two schools. Both shot the same today, but yesterday, the UNCP player had a better score. Jordan Hatch of Saint Leo posted the best score of the 87-woman field with a three-over par 147. She won by a stroke over Shauna Walor of UNC Pembroke.
Victoria Seenath (Toronto, Ontario, Seminole State College of Florida) recorded her first top 10 finish as she carded a 13-over 157 to finish in a tie for 16th place. She shot an 81 this afternoon.
Leslie Choucard (Chessy, France, Mercer University) tied for 12th place with an 14-over 158.
Elin Karlsson (Vanersborg, Sweden, Vaxjo Fria Gymnasium) tied for 33rd place after shooting a 20-over 164. She hit her first hole-in-one on the135-yard par 3 second hole with a 4-iron yesterday.
Maria Alstrom (Falsterbo, Sweden, Sundsgymnasiet) shot a 27-over 171 and tied for 58th place.
Lauren Benetti (Celebration, Fla., Daytona State College) rounded out the Flagler golfers with a 28-over 172 to finish in 64th place.
Flagler will prepare for a tri-match on Apr. 1 against the University of Missouri-St. Louis and Gustavus Adolphus College at the World Golf Village's Slammer & Squire Course at 3:05 p.m.
