PONTE VEDRA, Fla. − The Flagler College women's golf team carded a 331, today, and finished with and overall 658 to finish fifth in the Queens Invitational which concluded Tuesday at the TPC Sawgrass Dye Course (par 72).

No. 9 (Golf World/NGCA Coaches Poll) Belmont Abbey College topped the 13-team field with a 640 and won by seven strokes. Jennifer Gartin of the University of West Florida took home medalist honors with an 11-over par 151. She won by a stroke over Michele Low of Belmont Abbey and two strokes over Flagler's Elin Karlsson (Vanersborg, Sweden/Vaxjo Fria Gymnasium) who had the low round of the tournament with a 1-over 73 today.

The course played tough both days as it is becoming tournament ready for the Winn-Dixie Jacksonville Open in mid-October.

Karlsson shot a 13-over 153 to place third. She shaved eight strokes off her first round total. Leslie Choucard (Chessy, France/Mercer University) finished in a tie for seventh with a 16-over 160. Lauren Benetti (Celebration, Fla./Daytona State College) tied for 21st place with a 23-over 167. Kelsey Hughes (Ponte Vedra Bech, Fla./Allen D. Nease HS) shot a 181 to finish 49th while Marissa Marinan (Niceville, Fla./Niceville HS) carded a 186 and finished in 54th place.

Flagler will play in the Eat a Peach Collegiate Sept. 19-20 at Macon, Ga.
