St. Thomas led 2-1 going into the home-half of the fifth inning and Daniel DiFabio (2-5, 2 2B, R, RBI) got things started early for the Bobcats with a lead off double. After an Adrian F. Gonzalez sacrifice bunt moved him to third, Joseph Gutierrez (3-3, 2 R, RBI) singled him home. Juan Santana belted a two-run home run off Flagler starter Tim DeSutter (Loxahatchee, Fla./Brevard CC) to put St. Thomas up 5-1. The next two batters reached on a hit by pitch and an error on DeSutter to keep the inning going. DeSutter got Jose Rey to strike out trying to bunt the runners along, but then plunked Jorge Lago to load the sacks. Adrian B. Gonzalez (2-4, 2 RBI) hit a two-run single that chased DeSutter.

DiFabio greeted reliever Paul Mathews (Baton Rouge, La./Saint Louis CC-Meramec) with an RBI-double in his second in as many plate appearances in the inning to give the Bobcats an 8-1 lead.

Flagler got two runs back in the top of the sixth. Glenn Kiture (Orlando, Fla./Edgewater HS) (1-3, R, RBI) led off the inning with a solo home run, his third of the season. The second run came on a fielder's choice.

St. Thomas' Ivan Izquierdo (9-2) went the distance, scattering seven hits and allowing two earned runs while fanning eight.

DeSutter (3-9) tossed 4.2 innings, yielded seven hits and five earned runs for the Saints. Chris Guerra (Fremont, Calif./Mount Mercy College) collected a pair of singles. In a game where Flagler committed six errors, third baseman Mike Scott (Jacksonville, Fla./The Bolles School) had an outstanding night with the glove tallying eight assists.

The same two teams meet in a 1 p.m. doubleheader tomorrow (Apr. 15) to complete the three-game set.
