BABSON PARK, Fla. - The Webber International University (24-17, 9-6 Florida Sun) baseball team held serve at home, sweeping a pair from Flagler College (26-16, 7-5) 3-0 and 4-2 in a Florida Sun Conference doubleheader Sunday afternoon at the Medical Regional Center Field.
In game one, Zach Cordier (4-0) pitched a complete game shutout, limiting the Saints to seven hits and he struck out four batters.
Mike Stavey (1-for-2, run, RBI) hit an RBI triple to break the scoreless tie in the fourth inning for the Warriors. He scored when Joey Albsmeyer (1-for-3, run) flied out left.
WIU scored an insurance run in the fifth after a double steal with runners at the corners was successful.
Collin Martin had a pair of singles and two stolen bases for Webber International. Harris Hartley (2-for-3) also added a pair of base hits.
Preston Picard (Detroit, Mich./Madonna U.) went 2-for-3 at the plate for the Saints. He singled in the first and sixth innings.
Tim DeSutter (Loxahatchee, Fla./Brevard CC) (3-7) took the loss on the hill for Flagler. He pitched a complete game, scattered seven hits and allowed three runs in his six innings of work.

In game two, Flagler drew first blood when
Kris King (Youngstown, Ohio/Santa Fe CC) hit a sacrifice fly to center field to plate Picard in the top of the second.
WIU countered when Michael Irvin hit an RBI single in the bottom of the second, and then the Warriors tacked on two more in the third inning on an RBI double by Collin Martin and an RBI single by Reese Ivers to make the score 3-1 in favor of Webber.
The Warriors added a run in the fourth and the Saints plated a run in the fifth, aided by a pair of Webber errors.
Irvin went 2-for-3 with a runs scored and another driven in for WIU. Darren Hardy (1-2) tossed five innings, scattered six hits and allowed one earned run. Brodie House tossed the final two innings to earn the save.
Picard (2-for-4) singled, doubled and scored a run for the Saints.
Wes Burgess (St. Augustine, Fla./Bartram Trail HS) (3-3) tallied five innings, allowed seven hits and three earned runs in the loss.
Flagler College visits Florida Tech on Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Andy Seminick-Les Hall Field in Melbourne.
