BABSON PARK, Fla. - Glenn Kiture (Orlando, Fla./Edgewater HS) blasted a grand slam to spark a five-run third inning as Flagler College (26-14, 7-3 Florida Sun) out-slugged Webber International University (22-17, 7-6) 14-9 in a Florida Sun Conference game Friday night at the Medical Region Center Field.

Flagler scored single runs in the first and second innings to take an early 2-0 lead. Randy Miller (Jacksonville, Fla./Florida CC-Jacksonville) led off the third with a base hit up the middle and Bryan Crouch (Jacksonville, Fla./Arlington Country Day School) ripped a double to left-center. Shane Darnofall (Corry, Pa./Hillsborough CC) followed with a walk to load the bases. Two batters later, Kiture took an 0-1 pitch and smashed it over the right-center field wall to give the Saints a 6-0 advantage. Kenny Bargfeldt (Fishers, Ind./Ball State U.) followed with a double to straight-away center field and he came around to score on Bryan Harrell's (Granger, Ind./Lincoln Trail College) single to right field.

The Saints added three more in the fourth inning with the help of Darnofall's two-run double which put Flagler ahead 10-1.

Webber countered with a run in the fourth and three more in the sixth to close the gap to 10-5.

Flagler would push across four more runs in the seventh on an RBI double by Zach Rossetti (Tequesta, Fla./Jupiter HS) and a pair of errors by the Warrior defense.

Trailing 14-5, the Warriors would rally for four runs in the bottom of the eighth but could not draw any closer.

Pacing the 18-hit attack for Flagler were Miller (3-5, 2R) and Crouch (3-6, 2B, HR, 3R, RBI). Kiture went 2-for-5 with a double, a grand slam, two runs scored and four RBI. Bargfeldt (2-4, 2R, 2RBI) collected a pair of doubles.

Brad Jackson (Havana, Fla./North Florida CC) (3-2) tossed six innings and allowed 12 hits and three earned runs. He struck out six batters.

Billy McMillan (3-6, R, RBI) collected three singles for Webber International and Travis Hill (3-4, 2R, RBI) doubled in the third inning.

Brian Armstrong (4-3) went three innings, gave up nine hits and seven runs in picking up the loss.

The same two teams meet tomorrow (Apr. 1) in a conference doubleheader at noon.
