Aly El Rafie of the men's tennis team was selected as Academy Bus Athlete of the Week for the period ending May 24.

The Cairo, Egypt native recorded match point in Flagler's first-ever NCAA Division II national title, which happened Sunday with a 4-3 victory over Barry University. El Rafie split the first two sets and the third set went all the way to a tiebreaker. He scored the first three points, and later would take advantage of a double-fault by Barry's player to widen the gap and win the tiebreaker 7-3.

At the NCAA Round of 16, El Rafie posted a perfect 3-0 record in singles and went 0-1 in doubles. The No. 73-ranked tennis player in the country defeated No. 31 Andres De Los Rios of Lubbock Christian 6-1 and 7-5.

He finished the season with an overall record of 20-8 in singles, which includes a 17-2 mark in the spring.
