Luisa Hrda of the women's tennis team was selected as the Academy Bus Athlete of the Week for the period ending May 14.
Hrda's win at No. 1 singles on Saturday put the Saints into unchartered waters with a berth into the final four. The senior from Aschaffenburg, Germany avenged a loss earlier in the season to No. 2-ranked Sonia Smagina of Washburn University with a 6-7(5), 6-1, 6-3 victory to clinch the match. Hrda is ranked No. 4 in the country and she improved her record against nationally ranked opponents to 6-3. Hrda also teamed with Dana Heimen to win both doubles matches this weekend. Their win in doubles, against the No. 8-ranked tandem in the country, won the doubles point for Flagler. Â
Overall this season, Hrda has a 30-7 record and holds a 17-4 mark this spring in singles. The doubles team of Hrda and Heimen, ranked No. 18, is 19-2 this spring and has won their last nine matches in a row.  Â
