N'Mya Pierce of the women's basketball team was named as the Athlete of the Month, sponsored by Sleep Inn, for the month of January.

She was selected as the player of the week twice - Jan. 13 and Jan. 20.

(from Jan. 13) Pierce led the Saints with 18.0 points and 10.0 rebounds per game last week. She also made 68.8 percent (11-16) of her shots from the field. This past Saturday, Pierce recorded her second double-double with 25 points and 15 rebounds in a 64-58 win over Georgia Southwestern. She made 7-of-10 from the free throw line en route to 11 points in a 66-58 victory over UNC Pembroke.

(from Jan. 19) The junior forward from West Palm Beach, Florida averaged 13.5 points and 14.5 rebounds per games in Flagler's two games last week. Last Saturday, Pierce scored 16 points and grabbed a season-high 17 rebounds at Columbus State. She added 11 points and 12 boards at USC Aiken last Wednesday.
