Lauren Penkala of the women's cross country team was selected as the Academy Bus Athlete of the Week, for the period ending Nov. 18.

Penkala finished in fourth place at the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional on Saturday at Oakwood, Georgia. Her 6K time of 22:28.25 was not only a personal-best time for Penkala, but it was the fastest time posted by a Flagler runner in NCAA Division II regional competition. Her fourth place finish was the best finish by a Saints runner in regional competition. The Naperville, Illinois native earned all-region honors for the second year in a row.

She also led Flagler to a second place finish and the team's second NCAA Division II National Championship appearance.
