Eoin Hyland of the men's soccer team was selected as the Academy Bus Athlete of the Week, for the period ending Oct. 29.
Hyland helped lead a defense that contained the top three scorers in the Peach Belt Conference last week and led Flagler to a 2-0 week and the No. 4 seed in the conference tournament. The Dublin, Ireland native logged 182 minutes on the field last week.
In a 2-1 overtime win last Wednesday at Francis Marion, Hyland helped limit the league's second-leading scorer, Levi Sandmann, to two shots. Last Saturday, Hyland held the PBC's leading scorer, Kwaku Dwamena, to one shot, and limited the second-leading scorer in the PBC, Dean Foster, to one shot on goal in Flagler's 2-1 victory over Clayton State.
Hyland has started all nine matches he has played in this season and has logged 722 minutes.
