Sara Davis of the women's volleyball team was selected as the Academy Bus Athlete of the Week, for the period ending Sept. 25.
Davis helped lead the team to a 2-0 week as they posted wins over Lander University (3-1) and the defending regular season PBC champion USC Aiken (3-1). All the 6-foot-2 middle hitter did was hit a remarkable .544 with a team-high 36 kills (5.14/set) with just five errors on 57 swings. Davis added a pair of service aces and four total blocks. Against the Pacers, she hit a career-best .633 with a match-high 21 kills and she only had two errors on 20 swings. In the match against Lander, Davis recorded nine of her team-high 15 kills in the fourth set and she hit .444.
The Akron, Ohio native ranks third in the Peach Belt Conference in hitting percentage (.356), sixth in kills per set (3.28), eighth in kills (131), second in solo blocks (11), fifth in block assists (31), fourth in total blocks (42) and second in blocks per set (1.05).
