Megan Hooks of the volleyball team was selected as the Academy Bus Athlete of the Week, for the period ending Sept. 4.
Hooks had an impressive opening weekend as she helped lead the Saints to a 2-1 record. She led the club with 52 kills, 4.00 kills per set and a stellar .378 hitting percentage coming off of the bench. Last Friday, Hooks broke her career-high in kills with 20 in a tough 3-2 loss the tournament champion, University of Southern Indiana. She hit .436 in that match. In the final match of the tournament on Saturday, Hooks bested her career-high by one with 21 kills in a 3-1 win over Valdosta State University who is picked third in the Gulf South Conference. She finished with a solid .30 hitting percentage. Hooks also hit an efficient .455 in a 3-1 win over Brevard College.
Hooks is third in the PBC in kills per set, sixth in kills and seventh in hitting percentage.
