Danny Brown of the baseball team was selected as the TraveLynx Athlete of the Week, for the period ending February 22.
Brown tossed his third complete game of the season, in as many outings, on Saturday against Georgia College. He tossed a four-hit shutout vs. the Bobcats and recorded eight strikeouts. Brown threw an economical 104 pitches and retired the first 12 batters in a row he faced. He only had two 3-ball counts in the outing.
So far this season, Brown holds a 3-0 record with a miniscule 1.00 earned run average and one shutout. He has tossed 27 innings and has a 27:2 strikeout-to-walk ratio and has allowed just 20 hits. Brown has been the Peach Belt Conference's Pitcher of the Week the last two weeks in a row and was the NCBWA Southeast Region Pitcher of the Week last week. He leads the league in wins, complete games, shutouts and innings pitched and is third in strikeouts.
