Joanna Yoo of the women's golf team was selected as the TraveLynx Student-Athlete of the Week, for the period ending November 2.
Yoo finished in a tie for eighth place, along with two other teammates, with a 7-over par 151 to help Flagler win its first Flagler Fall Slam title last Tuesday at the Marsh Creek Country Club. Yoo rallied in the second round of the 36-hole tournament. She carded an 81 in the first round and was in a tie for 32nd place. In the final round, Yoo shot a 2-under 70, knocking 11 strokes off her previous day’s total and jumped all the way to eighth place. Her 70 was one stroke off the lowest of the tournament and tied for the lowest round by a Flagler golfer this season. In fact, Flagler's final round tally (293) was its lowest round of the year.
Yoo leads the team with a scoring average of 74.75 strokes per round. She has one top five and three top 10 finishes this season. Her scoring average is second in the Peach Belt Conference. Yoo is currently ranked No. 12 in NCAA Division II by Golfstat for the No. 3-ranked (Golfstat Relative Ranking) team in the country.
