Genel Sturgeon of the volleyball team was selected as the TraveLynx Student-Athlete of the Week, for the period ending October 19.
Sturgeon recorded 25 kills (2.78/set), hit .323 and had 10 total blocks (1.10/set) to help lead Flagler to a 3-0 week. Against then-second place in the Peach Belt Conference Georgia Regents University Augusta, Sturgeon recorded a match-high 10 kills and hit .526 on 19 errorless swings. She also recorded six total blocks. On Sunday against Francis Marion University, Sturgeon added seven kills and four block assists.
For the season, Sturgeon is second on the team in kills with 219 (2.55/set), third in digs with 173 (2.01/set) and third in total blocks with 39 (0.45/set). She is 10th in the Peach Belt in kills. Â
