Caitlyn Kovach of the volleyball team was selected as the Diamond in the Rough for the month of September, sponsored by Nettles Fine Jewelry.
“Caitlyn is extremely versatile as a defender and can excel in any of the three back row defensive positions," said head volleyball coach Brian Heffernan. "Caitlyn has solidified our team defense from two positions this season and she is currently our team’s back up setter. Without Caitlyn, some of the close matches our team has lost would not likely have been that close and many of the matches we have won would have been more of a struggle. We consider her a starter who has a role that is just as important as our front row players who are scoring our points. In fact, Caitlyn is as good at preventing points as any point scorers we have is at scoring them. After this season, if Caitlyn remains healthy I expect her not only to become a diamond for our program, but she will have the ability to rewrite the record books as a defensive player at Flagler.”
