Cade Smith of the baseball team was selected as the TraveLynx Student-Athlete of the Week for the period ending Mar. 4.

Smith batted .462 (6-for-13) last week to help the Saints to a 3-1 record. He started three of the four games he played in. Smith hit four doubles, drove in two runs, and scored a run. In the marathon 15-inning game against Urbana, he came in off the bench in the ninth inning to play third base. Smith hit the game-ending double in the bottom of the 15th inning to lead Flagler to a 9-8 win. In the second game of the day on Sunday, he played a pivotal role in that win. His RBI single in the sixth inning completed Flagler's rally as it took a 6-5 lead over No. 10 Le Moyne College. The Saints went on to win 7-5.


Smith raised his batting average 151 points after last week's performance. He is batting .333 with eight hits, five of which are doubles.
