Matt Green is in his fifth year with Flagler Athletics as the senior associate director of athletics for internal operations. Green's primary responsibility is implementing Flagler's comprehensive NCAA Division II compliance program while also supervising Athletics Communications and game operations and maintaining sport oversight of men's golf, women's golf, and volleyball.

During the 2022-23 academic year, Green was selected to serve on the NCAA Division II Legislation Committee. He also served as tournament director for the 2023 NCAA Division II Men's and Women's Tennis Southeast Regionals, Gulf South Conference Women's Lacrosse Championship, and Peach Belt Conference Men's Lacrosse Championship. Flagler student-athletes posted a 3.22 department grade-point average, 14 of 16 programs posted a team GPA of 3.00 or higher, and 217 student-athletes earned Peach Belt Conference Presidential Honor Roll Scholar recognition. All three marks are records for the department in the NCAA Division II era.

In 2021-22, Green was appointed as a sponsor for the Flagler College President's Leadership Academy, which offers students the chance to experience leadership using a curriculum interwoven around themes derived from Flagler’s core values. During the academic year, 13 teams finished the academic year with a 3.00 GPA or higher, while a 162 student-athletes were named to the Peach Belt Conference Presidential Honor Roll. Green served as tournament director for both the 2022 NCAA Division II Men's and Women's Tennis Southeast Region 2 tournaments, the first time in the College's NCAA Division II era that the programs hosted NCAA regional tournaments.

During the 2020-21 academic year, Green spearheaded the Department's COVID-19 response, including the development of health and safety protocols, coordination of contact tracing policies, and execution of a weekly, comprehensive surveillance testing program. In concert with Sports Medicine, the Department maintained a positivity rate of less than one percent among its student-athletes, coaches, and athletics staff, which allowed every athletics program to complete a full competition schedule. Green also served as the tournament director for a number of Peach Belt Conference Championships, including men's basketball, men's and women's golf, men's and women's soccer, and volleyball.

In 2019-20, Green worked with College faculty to establish the Flagler College Athletics Faculty Mentor Program, an initiative created to enhance collaboration between Athletics and academics while cultivating lasting relationships between student-athletes and faculty. The Faculty Mentor Program, which pairs each athletics program with one or more faculty members, has improved academic engagement with athletics while enhancing the student-athlete experience.

Green served as the tournament director for both Peach Belt Conference Tournaments (men's and women's golf and baseball) held at Flagler College during the 2018-19 academic year. He was instrumental in bringing both Box Out Sports (social media graphics) and BlueFrame Technology (live video platform) to the Department.

Green came to the Ancient City after three years as the athletic director at Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, Tennessee. During his time at LMU, Green rebranded the “L” Club, Lincoln Memorial’s booster club, resulting in a membership increase from 30 to 370. His efforts helped produce a 360 percent increase in participation and revenue generation from sports sponsorship initiatives and the student-athlete population grew by over 70 students with the addition of three new varsity programs, including two (women’s bowling and men’s volleyball) that captured conference championships in their second seasons of competition.

Green spearheaded efforts to improve campus-wide communication at Lincoln Memorial by creating the Compliance Committee, the "L" Club Advisory Board, and the LMU Athletics Fan Council. The fan council was instrumental in engaging the community, both on and off campus, while generating initiatives aimed at enhancing the student-athlete experience.

In 2017-18, his final year at LMU, five LMU programs earned NCAA Tournament berths while men’s lacrosse, women’s lacrosse and men’s volleyball established single-season program records for wins. For the third consecutive season, LMU student-athletes set a school record with a 3.24 cumulative grade-point average (GPA), highlighted by two-time All-America baseball player Logan Augustine graduating as valedictorian of the Class of 2018.

Before his time at Lincoln Memorial, Green served as the interim director of athletics at Shorter University in Rome, Georgia. In 2015, he was one of 12 athletics administrators out of more than 200 applicants selected to participate in the NCAA Pathway Program, an experiential leadership development program for senior athletic administrators aspiring to athletic director roles. Before serving as the interim director of athletics, Green was the senior associate athletics director at Shorter for five years with responsibilities in compliance, sports information and fundraising.

Green earned his bachelor’s degree in mathematical economics from Hampden-Sydney College in Farmville, Va., in 2007. He received his master of education in sports leadership from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2009.

He is married to the former Jordan Corder of Hazel Green, Ala. The couple has three children, Bryson, Beckham and Brooks.
