Dr. Allison Roberts

Dr. Roberts was named as the College's Faculty Athletic Representative (FAR) December 8, 2023. 

A Freytag Associate Professor of Economics, she has received the Dean’s Award for Excellence in Teaching (2015) and Service (2011), and is the author of numerous published articles in the areas of econometrics, health, education, and labor.  A former student-athlete herself, Dr. Roberts won 25 national and four world handball championships between 1980 and 2010. She was inducted into the United States Handball Hall of Fame in 2014. 

Dr. Roberts received her doctorate in economics from Northern Illinois University and bachelor’s degrees in mathematics and economics from Lake Forest College.

“I am honored to receive this appointment where I can advocate for the academic well-being of all our student-athletes,” said Dr. Roberts.  “I look forward to working closely with athletics, the faculty, and academic support offices to ensure Flagler’s student-athletes can thrive both academically and athletically.”

Dr. Roberts started at Flagler in the Fall of 2008 as an assistant professor of economics and was promoted to associate professor in the Fall of 2012. She served four years (2013-17) as chair of the business administration department and two years (2018-20) as dean of the school of business, education, and mathematics.  She was instrumental in opening the Brown Innovation Center on the Flagler campus last spring.
