Flagler College Athletics

Austin Slough enters his first year as Assistant Athletics Director for Athletics Communications at Flagler College in August 2026. In his role, Slough will lead the sports information, communications, marketing, and promotion efforts of the College’s 19 NCAA intercollegiate varsity sports.

Slough comes to the Ancient City from Queens University of Charlotte, where he served in the athletics communications department starting in 2021, most recently as Director of Athletic Communications since fall of 2023. At Queens, Slough played an instrumental role in enhancing the Queens Athletics brand visibility through creative content and storytelling while promoting student-athlete success. Slough assisted the Queens and its Athletics Department in the transition from NCAA Division II status to NCAA Division I membership.

Slough developed several social media campaigns for the department, including a 2025-26 men's basketball schedule release, which garnered 337,000 views and 10,755 engagements within five days. The year prior, Slough coordinated and created a men's basketball schedule release that reached 300,000 views, marking the highest viewed post on the accounts to that date.

Slough played an instrumental role in marketing the first-ever Division I contest in Queens Athletics history, which resulted in a Queens women's soccer attendance record. The social media campaign generated 89,000 views and 230 new followers across the month-long campaign. In addition, Slough served as the primary media contact at the 2022 NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving National Championships in Greensboro, N.C., while also promoting the 2022 men's and women's national champions from Queens.

Prior to Queens, Slough served as a Media Relations Intern at Villanova University. He was a secondary contact for the baseball, field hockey, and soccer programs and was responsible for heading multiple game-day tasks, including official stats, public address announcements, social media, and press releases. Additionally, Slough assisted in managing the 2020 Big East Field Hockey Championships hosted at Villanova.
 
Prior to Villanova, Slough spent a year at Virginia Commonwealth University working as a Graduate Assistant in the athletic communications office. While at VCU, Slough served as the primary contact for men's and women's tennis while also assisting with the soccer and basketball programs.
 
A native of Glen Allen, Va., Slough earned his bachelor's degree in communication studies with a minor in leadership from Christopher Newport University in 2019. Slough was a four-year member of the Christopher Newport baseball team, where he won a Capital Athletic Conference Tournament title and made two NCAA Tournament appearances. After graduation, Slough went on to receive his master's degree from the VCU Center for Sport Leadership in 2020.
