Biography

Coach Barnett says: “Steve is a versatile infielder who has a great knowledge of the game.  He gives us an experience bat in the line-up.”

2007 (JUNIOR): Played in 27 games, starting 18...Batted .226 with a double, five RBI and six runs scored...Went 1-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored at Nova Southeastern (Feb. 13)...Had an RBI-double vs. Tennessee Wesleyan (Feb. 4).

JUNIOR COLLEGE: Attended Chattanooga (Tenn.) State Technical Community College…Played 30 games and batted .328 with one home run and 16 RBI as a sophomore…An Academic All-American in 2006…A two-time Academic All-Region selection…Played for Head Coach Greg Dennis.

HIGH SCHOOL: Graduated from North Marion High School in Citra, Fla….Lettered all four years for Head Coach Steve Simmons, Sr….Region Player of the Year in 2004…A two-time All-Area first-team selection…Named to the State All-Star Game in 2004…A two-time team captain…Named Team MVP in 2004.

PERSONAL: Son of Steve, Sr., and Sherri Simmons…A political science major…Has a sister…His favorite sports figure is Todd Helton.
