Brian Washburn has been a volunteer coach for the Flagler men's tennis program since 2013 through the present, helping with clinics, camps and the men’s tennis team. He was selected as the 2023 and 2025 ITA Southeast Region Assistant Coach of the Year. 

Washburn was the coach at Sebastian Middle School for two seasons and one year at the Cathedral Parrish Middle School.

He graduated from Flagler College in 1982 with a bachelor's in English and psychology. Washburn played baseball for the Saints from 1978-79 and was selected to the All-Decade Team of the 1970s. 
 
Moving to Boston in 1983, he became enthralled with tennis, joined the Sportsman's Tennis and Enrichment Center and became a USTA member. Each year he would drive to New York City and spend a week at the U.S. Open. He has attended two Davis Cup matches.  Two years ago, a dream came true when he and his family attended The Championships at Wimbledon.
 
From 2001-2003, Brian developed and coached a tennis program for the Fitzgerald Community School’s after-school program in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
 
Brian, his wife Donna, and their two daughters, Holly and Sammy, moved to St. Augustine in the summer of 2003.
 
In 2011, Brian was certified through PTR (Professional Tennis Registry) and began coaching at Flagler College Tennis Clinics and Summer Camps.  He was also a volunteer coach at St. Augustine High School for their 2013-2014 season.
 
He is a member of the PTR and the USTA.
