Cory Acker begins his first year on the sports medicine staff at Flagler College on Aug. 1, 2022.
He comes to the Ancient City from Evansville, Indiana where he served a one-year stint as the head athletic trainer for the Evansville Thunderbolts of the Southern Professional Hockey League.
Before working at Evansville, Acker had a brief stint as an assistant athletic trainer at The University of Alabama in Huntsville where he worked with the men’s and women’s soccer programs, as well as baseball. He also worked at Alabama State University where he covered men’s basketball and baseball. In 2018-19, Acker was an intern at Daytona State College in Daytona Beach, Florida.
Acker received his bachelor’s in athletic training from Northern Michigan University in Marquette 2016. He graduated cum laude. He earned his master’s in sport management from the University of Southern Indiana in 2018. Acker is a board certified athletic trainer and is licensed in Indiana, Kentucky, Florida and Alabama. He is a proud member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association.
