INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – No. 4 (ITA DII National Poll) Flagler College was selected to compete in the 8-team NCAA Division II Southeast Regional tournament. The first round begins on Monday (May 11) at the Columbus State University.
The Saints entered the tournament as the No. 3 seed. Flagler is the second highest ranked Peach Belt Conference affiliated school in the tournament, behind No. 2 seeded Columbus. 18-4 on the season, the Saints met their opponents earlier in the season as they face the 12-6, No. 6 seeded Lander University. Their match will begin at 2 PM at the John W. Walden Tennis Center.
Within the Saints side of the Southeast Region bracket, No. 7 Belmont Abbey College will face the host, Columbus. After Flagler on the other side of the bracket is No. 1 Catawba College, No. 4 University of North Georgia, No. 5 Wingate University and closing out the tournament is No. 8 University of Mount Olive.
In their first meeting of the season, the Saints defeated then No. 21 Lander 6-1 on Mar. 30. Flagler took courts two through six in singles and two and three in doubles. Since their last meeting, Flagler went on to post a 6-2 record, defeating two ranked opponents.
