Thin Saints come up short against the Bulldogs

Box Score ST. AUGUSTINE - The No. 33 ranked Flagler College women's tennis team fell 4-3 to Wingate University this afternoon at the Pollard Tennis Center.

A slow start to the season has the Saints falling to 2-5 on the season while the Bulldogs advanced to 7-1. The Saints will have a short turn around and will host No. 6 Washburn University on Saturday, Mar. 7 at 10 a.m.

A thinned out roster resulted in the Saints being down one player to compete in doubles in singles. Handling business to give the Saints their first point was No. 14 Elena Ondobo. Ondobo dominated Claudia Vallejos 6-2 and 6-1. To give the Saints a fighting chance, No. 40 Eryka Kruk defeated No. 35 Anastasiia Okitabreva 6-4 and 7-5, moving the score to 2-3. After the end of regulation, Sofia Balsera completed her three set match against Honomi Watanabie. Taking sets one and three, Balsera finished the match 6-0, 4-6 and 6-2
