No. 38 Saints take down the Warriors

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - The No. 38 Flagler College women's tennis team captured their second consecutive win, defeating No. 41 Wayne State University (Mich.) this morning at the NSU Tennis Complex at Rolling Hills.

For the second time this season, the Saints defeated a ranked opponent, moving their overall record to 4-6. The Warriors dropped to 3-3. The Saints next match between Nova Southeastern University was postponed to a later date due to weather delays. On Mar. 19, the Saints will travel to the University of Tampa for their next match.

The Saints earned their victory through singles play. The first point came from Ornella Lomenzo who dominated Rebecca Laynes in two 6-1 sets. Lea Jakic returned to the court.after missing the past few matches with a much needed victory.  On court five, Jakic defeated Shantala Uzcategui 6-4 and 6-2. To put the Saints in position to clinch, Sofia Balsera defeated Justine Beaulieu 6-2 and 7-5. The winning point came in three sets from No. 21 Eryka Kruk. Kruk gained another ranked win, defeating No. 29 Malak Arafat 7-6, 5-7 and 6-0.
