ST. AUGUSTINE – Rahdir Hicks scored 13 of his game high 17 points in the second half to help lead Flagler College to a 68-58 victory over Middle Georgia State University in a Peach Belt Conference men's basketball game Wednesday night at Flagler Gymnasium.
Flagler extended its winning streak to five games and improved to 15-7 overall and 9-5 in the Peach Belt. The two teams split the two-game series this year. Middle Georgia lost its sixth game in a row and dropped to 7-14 overall and 3-11 in league play. The Saints will be travel to play USC Aiken this Saturday.
The Saints had a hard time shaking the newest team in the league, the Knights. Flagler finished the game on a 12-2 run, but scored eight unanswered points to break a 56-all tie to finally put Middle Georgia away. Hicks made a pair of baskets, the first one with 1:52 left to break the tie and the other with 1:06 left for some cushion. Hicks followed that with four free throws.
Melvin Teal added 13 points and seven rebounds for the Saints.
Tariq Daughton and
Mason Manning each respectively scored nine points.
Hoku Fisher scored six points and brought in a team high nine rebounds.
Flagler made 24-of-its-28 shots from the free throw line. Manning made 5-of-6 while Hicks and Fisher both were a perfect 4-for-4.
The Knights were led by Krishen Atwal who scored 15 points on 5-of-12 shooting, 4-of-7 from the three, had four assists and collected three rebounds. Joshua Robertson made 11 points, three assists, and two steals. OT Delancy scored nine points while Milique Smith grabbed a game high 15 rebounds.
