FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. - The Flagler College men's lacrosse team extended their hot streak in their 14-8 win over Emmanuel University this afternoon at the Stephen's Athletic Field.
Advancing to 4-2 on the season, the Saints are on a three game win streak. Emmanuel dropped to 1-7. The Saints have a quick turnover as they play RV Rollins College on Friday, Feb. 27 at 7 p.m.
A back and fourth scoring first half had the Saints leading the Lions 6-5 going into the third. Freshman
Will Linko set the Saints offense off in the first period, scoring their first three goals. Linko finished the game with four goals and one assist. Led by Dempsey Gibbs in the third period, the Saints erupted on a seven goal run through the third period. During the run, Gibbs had two goals and three assists. A season high 14 Saints recorded at least one point through the contest.
Dominating at the whistle,
Ryan McLaughlin led the Saints at the face-off, winning 6-10. Three different goalies saw action with
Austin Slade having the highest save percentage. Slade went 6-8 on saves while
Jonah Smith went 5-9 and
Landon Zehr went 3-5. A whole team effort, eight Saints caused at least on turnover.
Austin Combs led the team with three while
Payton Maxwell finished with two.
