ST. AUGUSTINE – Flagler College scored seven runs in the first two innings to coast to a 14-0 victory over American International College in a non-conference baseball game Sunday afternoon at Drysdale Field.
Flagler improved to 11-2 overall while American International dropped to 0-3. The same two teams finish the series tomorrow at 4 p.m. at Drysdale Field.
Jesse Sullivan and
Payton Palladino each had RBI singles in Flagler's four-run first inning. Sullivan hit a two-run double in the second inning and helped give the Saints a commanding 7-0 lead.
That was more than enough for
Aaron Zenus (1-0). He tossed six shutout innings and allowed just two hits and fanned five to earn his first win as a Saint. No base runner made it past second base.
Dominick Patruno struck out two of the three batters he faced in the seventh.
Taylor Shultz helped lead the 14-hit attack with three singles, and he scored four runs.
Trenton Snyder went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two runs scored, and he had one run batted in.
George Gilson went 2-for-5 with a triple, two runs scored, and he knocked in two runs.
Eli Maddox hit a home run, scored three runs, and drove in three more. Sullivan finished 2-for-3 with a double, three RBI, and he scored a run.
Traigh Skiffington (0-1) allowed six earned runs on six hits in 1.2 innings pitched for the Yellow Jackets.
Josh Frometa and Albis Felix had the lone hits for AIC, both singles.
