Katherine Rank turned in efficient performances with a .550 and .332 hitting percentages as Flagler College defeated Newberry College 3-1 (20-25, 25-23, 25-13, 25-19) Saturday night at Flagler Gym in the final match of the Flagler Invitational.
Flagler improved to 3-5 overall while Newberry suffered its first loss of the season (5-1). The Saints will return to the court next week at the Hyatt Place Bash at the Beach, hosted by Lynn University and Palm Beach Atlantic University from Sept. 19-20. They will face the University of Missouri-St. Louis and Lynn on Friday, followed by Lee University and Palm Beach Atlantic on Saturday.
Fleming finished with 11 kills without an error on 20 swings. Rank also had 11 kills with three errors on 25 swings. She added five total blocks to her line.
Cassidy Bloom recorded a match-high 14 kills and added seven digs.
Marley Middlebrooks had nine kills and 13 digs.
Clare Sheedy tallied 44 assists, seven digs, five total blocks, and had two aces.
Bella Schwantz paced the defense with a season-high 16 digs.
Amelia Fitzpatrick had three aces.
Anna Schneider led the Wolves with 10 kills and eight digs. Annie Dill recorded a double-double with 16 assists and 11 digs.
