ST. AUGUSTINE - Marley Middlebrooks finished with 23 kills and hit .380 as Flagler College split two matches on Friday in the Flagler Invitational defeating Lees-McRae College 3-0 (25-15, 25-13, 25-17) losing to Lenior-Rhyne University 3-1 (19-25, 21-25, 26-24, 25-23) at Flagler Gym.
Flagler is now 2-5 on the season while Lees-McRae remained winless at 0-4 and Lenoir-Rhyne improved to 5-1. The Saints will play their final match of the weekend against Newberry College at 6 p.m.
Middlebrooks recorded a match-high 10 kills in the opener against Lees-McRae. She finished with a .400 hitting percentage as she had two errors on 20 swings. Gracie Fleming posted a sizzling .700 hitting percentage with eight kills and one error on 10 swings. Katherine Rank had a .500 hitting percentage with her seven kills and two errors on 10 swings. Clare Sheedy tallied 28 assists while Caity Clancy led the defense with a match-high 15 digs to go along with three of Flagler's season-high 11 aces.
Caity Clancy racked up a match high 17 digs while finding three aces. Emma Summerfield led the Bobcats in digs with seven.
Jadyn Walters led the Bobcats with six kills and posted a .500 hitting percentage on 12 errorless swings. Izadora Rosin tallied 13 assists. Rebecca Ryan and Kennedy Jane Nelson had five and four total blocks, respectively.
Against the Bears, Rank and Middlebrooks each recorded 13 kills. Middlebrooks had a .367 hitting percentage as she only had two errors on 30 swings. Riley Murray added nine kills and five total blocks. Sheedy recorded a double-double with a match-high 43 assists to go along with 11 digs. Fleming added seven total blocks while Clancy collected a team-high 14 digs. The Saints had nine aces. Sheedy and Bloom had three apiece. Flagler tied its season-high with 10.0 total team blocks.
Kayli Cleaver recorded a match-high 20 kills for the Bears and hit an impressive .405 with five errors on 37 swings. Averie Dale hit .545 with 12 kills on 22 errorless swings and she added four aces. Hadley Prince collected 17 digs while Emmie Modlin tallied 26 assists.
