ST. AUGUSTINE - The No. 2-ranked (ITA Division II Top 50) Flagler College men's tennis team lost their second match of the season against No. 6 Barry University this afternoon at the Pollard Tennis Center, 4 -2.
Barry improved to 11-2 overall and earned their seventh win of the season against a ranked opponent. Flagler dropped to 10-2. The Saints open Peach Belt Conference play this weekend as they head to the University of North Georgia on Friday for a 1 p.m. match.
The highest ranking doubles team of the day, No. 22
Simon Malis and
Ilian Borlee, earned the only doubles win for the Saints after defeating Leo Caill and Simone Cavalleri 6-1. Staying undefeated on the day, No. 69 Malis took one of the two singles wins for Flagler. Malis defeated Gabriele Felline in the final two sets of their three set match, 6-2, 6-4.
Filip Kana joined the win column after taking his two set match against Thomas Machado 7-5 (7-5), 6-4.
