INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - No. 2 (ITA Division II Top 25) Flagler College earned its first win of the 2025 ITA Division II indoor National Championship Saturday afternoon with a 4-0 victory over No. 12 University of Indianapolis at the UIndy Tennis Center.
For the second match this tournament, the Saints yet again went undefeated in doubles. Finishing first for Flagler was
Simon Malis and
Aniss Rafiq, as they defeated the duo of Matthieu Derache and David Simeonov, 6-3.
Ilian Borlee and
Baptiste Mercier wrapped up the point for the Saints after defeating Tadeo Gaggiofatto and Asier Ayllon Prado, 6-3. Although unfinished,
Makary Adamek and
Filip Kana were up 4-3 on Lorenzo Di Cursi and Manu Lanteri before the match was stopped.
Rafiq make quick work of Simeonov in his first set, winning 6-0. A 7-5 second set sealed the Saints their second point of the match. Borlee played to three sets, taking both the first and third by 6-1.
Aly El Rafie was the final Saint to score a point, defeating Di Cursi 6-4 then 6-2.
The remaining matches for Malis, Mercier and Kana were all in the third set. Both Kana and Mercier were up on their opponents, with Kana leading 5-3 and Mercier leading 4-3.
The Saints will face No. 3 Saint Leo University tomorrow for the ffith place match at 11 a.m.
