CLEVELAND, Ohio – Flagler College finished the fall season tied for No. 8, a program-best, in the Learfield Directors' Cup Division II Standings, released this afternoon. The final winter and spring standings will be released at dates later in the academic year.

The previous highest mark for the Saints was No. 13 in the fall of 2022.

"We are pleased to be ranked in the top 10 of the Learfield Directors' Cup standings," said Jud Damon, Flagler's director of athletics. "We are extremely proud of the competitive accomplishments that Flagler's teams achieved this Fall."

There are currently 299 NCAA Division II institutions. Only 154 of those earned any points in the Learfield Directors' Cup this fall. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in NCAA Championships. Thus, in order to earn any points in the ranking, teams must advance to their sport's NCAA post-season championship. This fall, all five Flagler's fall sports teams participated in NCAA post-season competition – volleyball, men's soccer, women's soccer, men's cross country, and women's cross country.

Flagler tallied 200 points and received 64 points from men's soccer as well as 50 from volleyball, 44 from women's cross country, and 42 from men's cross country. The men's soccer team finished in ninth place at the NCAA Division II National Championship while volleyball advanced to the semifinal round of the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional. The women's cross country team finished in 30th place at the national championships while the men finished in 32nd place.

"Part of our mission is to field nationally competitive teams in all of our sports," said Damon. "This ranking is an encouragement and affirmation for us."

Flagler was the top Peach Belt Conference member to be ranked in the Directors' Cup standings. Lander University finished in 60th place with 89 points. Augusta University followed in 66th place with 81 points. The University of North Georgia finished in 106th place with 50 points. Columbus State University finished in 124th place with 25 points.

"We are truly blessed with some incredible coaches and amazing student-athletes at Flagler and we know that the best is yet to come," added Damon.

The Learfield Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today.  Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in NCAA Championships.

The University of Colorado-Colorado Springs finished atop the ranking with 289.5 points. The Mountain Lions finished in sixth place in women's cross country, ninth place in men's and women's soccer, 13th in men's cross country, and 25th in volleyball. Wingate University was second with 283 points. Colorado School of Mines followed in third with 275 points while Anderson University of South Carolina was fourth with 237.5. Grand Valley State University rounded out the top five with 205 points.
