AUGUSTA, Ga. –
Marley Middlebrooks recorded her sixth double-double of the season, and second in a row, with a team-high 16 kills and 13 digs in Flagler College's 3-1 (26-24, 21-25, 17-25, 22-25) loss to Augusta University in a Peach Belt Conference volleyball match Saturday afternoon at the Christenberry Fieldhouse.
Augusta won its eighth match in a row and improved to 13-2 overall and 4-0 in the Peach Belt. Flagler dropped to 8-10 overall and 1-1 in conference play. The Saints host Lander University on Friday at 6 p.m. at Flagler Gymnasium.
Middlebrooks finished with a .342 hitting percentage as she only had three errors on 38 swings.
Gracie Fleming hit .385 with 14 kills and four errors on 26 swings. She added five total blocks.
Katherine Rank hit a sizzling .476 as she had 12 kills and only two errors on 21 swings.
Clare Sheedy tallied 47 assists and was one dig shy of a double-double.
Bella Schwantz paced the defense with 14 digs.
Sofiia Snitsarevych led the Jaguars with 16 kills and four total blocks. She hit .419 with three errors on 31 swings. Layne Witherspoon notched a double-double with 14 kills and 14 digs. She added five total blocks. Patrycja Kabala added 11 kills. Mia Saavedra finished with a double-double as she tallied 30 assists to go along with 11 digs.
The Jaguars had 12 aces in the match as Hunter McFarland had five and Giulia Rodrigues added four more. Augusta finished with 10.0 total team blocks and Angela Mateos had five total blocks.
