AIKEN, S.C. –
Grace Simon scored her first collegiate goal with just 36 second left to go in the match as Flagler College escaped with a 1-1 tie at the University of South Carolina Aiken in a Peach Belt Conference women's soccer match Wednesday evening at Pacer Pit.
Flagler's overall record stands at 5-6-3 and the Saints are 3-3-2 in the Peach Belt. USC Aiken is now 5-6-3 overall and 2-4-2 in conference play. Flagler visits Albany State University on Saturday at 3 p.m.
Simon, a senior, headed in a corner kick from
Haley Stafford to knot the match at 1-all.
Shy Iles scored the first goal of the match for the Pacers in the 59
th minute.
Phoebe Carpenter tied her season-best in saves with seven. Savannah Yerger from USCA finished with six saves.
The Saints out-shot the Pacers 18-16 and held a slight 6-4 advantage in corner kicks. USC Aiken committed nine fouls while Flagler had six.
