ST. AUGUSTINE –
Omar Figueroa scored a team-high 21 points, all coming on seven 3-pointers, to lead Flagler College to an 83-70 win over Edward Waters University in a non-conference men's basketball game Tuesday night at Flagler Gymnasium.
Flagler snapped a two-game losing streak and improved to 2-3 overall. Edward Waters dropped its second game in a row and fell to 1-4. Flagler takes a break for Thanksgiving and then will host Paine College on Nov. 29 at 7 p.m.
The Saints opened the game on a 13-0 run and never trailed in the game. Flagler took a 41-28 lead into the half.
The lead extended to 23 after a 10-0 run to open the second half thanks to a three-pointer by
Tyler Collier and two more by
Malik Bryant.
The Saints led by as many as 30 (75-45) after a
Jax Bouknight trey with 8:42 to go.
The Tigers closed the game on a 16-2 run.
Bryant tallied 15 points, dished out a career-high seven assists, grabbed five rebounds, and had a career-high four steals for Flagler. Collier added 11 points and six rebounds.
Mason Manning tied his season-high with eight points while
Jalen Barr contributed seven points, six rebounds, and three assists. Thirteen Saints saw action in tonight's game.
Goliath Mitchell scored a game-high 23 points for Edward Waters. RJ Noord added 12 points and six rebounds while Nebie Tesfa came off the bench to provide 10 points.
