Destin Clark dribbles toward the basket

Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Destin Clark pours in a game-high 19 points Thursday night

ST. AUGUSTINE – Destin Clark scored a game-high 19 points and Jax Bouknight added a career-high 17 points for Flagler College, but it wasn't enough in a 92-81 loss to Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in a non-conference men's basketball game Thursday night at Flagler Gym.

Flagler is now 1-2 overall while Embry-Riddle improved to 3-1. Flagler will look to even its record on Saturday at Lynn University at 7 p.m.

The Eagles held a 10-point lead (62-52) early in the second half before the Saints rallied to close the gap to one (71-70) after a Kyle Young basket with 6:42 left. But Embry-Riddle answered with a three-pointer by Milan Skoric. Bouknight knocked down a three to get the Saints back to within a point (74-73) with 5:37 to go.

After back-to-back buckets by Embry-Riddle, Mason Manning hit a transition three-pointer to get Flagler to within two (78-76) with 4:30 remaining.

Danny Sully added a layup for the Eagles, got fouled on the shot, and sank the free throw to widen the gap. Coming out of the last media timeout, Cameron Shockley-Okeke sank a three-pointer to increase the lead to eight (84-76) with just 3:41 left on the clock.

Sully led six Embry-Riddle players in double figures with 17 points and he completed the double-double with a game-high 13 rebounds. Dru Nickson and Jerry Bracey II each added 14 points. Shockley-Okeke tacked on 12 points while Michael McAlister and Malcolm Whitlow finished with 11 and 10 points, respectively. Nickson tallied five assists.

The Eagles out-rebounded the Saints 45-30. Embry-Riddle had 20 offensive rebounds that led to 20 second chance points.

Young finished with 11 points and a team-high seven rebounds for the Saints. Malik Bryant tallied 10 points.
