Men's Tennis sweeps Young Harris

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – The No. 13 Flagler College men's tennis team brought out the brooms for the sixth time this season in a 7-0 win over No. 71 Young Harris College Saturday afternoon.

Flagler, currently riding a six-match win streak with the last four over ranked opponents, improves to 14-4 and keeps an unblemished 5-0 record in the Peach Belt Conference. Young Harris drops to 5-12 and 0-6 in the PBC.

Doubles has been a cornerstone of the Saints performance this season, and today was no different, sweeping the Mountain Lions for the opening point. Flagler got 6-2 wins at both first and second doubles. Oscar Del Granado and Philipp Lemken played at first while Nikita Tatyanin and Jagger Ong-Patzwald played at second; meanwhile, Petr Cervinka and Jacopo Denitto finished the sweep with a 6-4 victory.

In singles play, Tatyanin, who currently is ranked 36th in the nation in singles, finished first with a 6-2, 6-4 win at second singles for his 14th singles win of the season, all at second singles. Denitto posted a 6-3, 6-3 victory at sixth singles for the Italian's 12th straight win. No. 57 Del Granado clinched the match at first singles, winning 6-3, 6-1.

Even though the match was already in hand, No. 74 Lemken posted a 7-5, 6-3 result at fourth singles for his 13th singles win of the year. Cedric Holzmann posted a win at fifth singles after he battled back from down a set to win 4-6, 6-0, 10-5.

Cervinka was tested at third singles, but came out on top in two sets that went the distance, 7-6 (2), 7-6 (3).

Flagler will conclude its regular season at home Tuesday, April 26 against No. 14 Lander University at the Flagler Tennis Center at 1 p.m.
